Poetrait #2

You taught me how soft darkest dark can be
but it’s bittersweet, dead space between.

Concerning the cold big empty above:
Your eyes glistened starlit drops of concern
as my saturnine embrace ringed round you.

My wormhole gut swallowed everything,
a vantablack chasm which paled you.

You: soft, strong, solemn, sincere
against brittle, broken, tender me.
I had no space for you,
despite my gnawing black inside.
You cut a hole in your heart for me.

You can’t heal what doesn’t wish to be whole.
You’ll always be a bright spot in my soul.
